This model of bus was first delivered by New Flyer Industries and put into operation by the HSR in 2004. A total of fourteen coaches were ordered. A second order of twenty-two of these coaches were ordered in 2005 with another twenty-two in 2006. A third order of twenty-two coaches was delivered in 2008.
The main visable difference between this model and sister models C40LF and DE41LF is the fuel method, with the fuel tanks stored on the roof of the coach. The D40LF is powered by diesel fuel, while the C40LF is powered by Natural Gas and the DE41LF is a diesel-electric hybrid.
