20 AIRPORT EXPRESS - ROUTE PROPOSAL
|
The HSR already has an east-west express bus service in the name of 'Route 10 Beeline Express' so it only seems natural that there should be a north-south express to connect the southern part of the city to the downtown core. Additionally an express service from the Hamilton 'John C. Munro' International Airport to downtown Hamilton, via the Hamilton GO Centre, would be a natural way for tourists to get into the 'heart of the city.'
The route would loop in the north end at the Hamilton GO Centre where 'Route 51 University' does. The bus would then travel north on John St, turn left onto King St and left again onto James St. The bus would then travel south to the base of the mountain at St. Joseph's Drive. The bus would then continue south onto James Mountain Rd and climb the escarpment arriving on West 5th St. Then the bus would turn left onto Fennell Ave and right onto Upper James St. At this point the bus would travel south on Upper James until arriving at Airport Rd in Mt. Hope. The bus would then turn left onto Airport Rd and then make another right into the Hamilton 'John C. Munro' International Airport. After the loop the bus would take the same return path to the Hamilton GO Centre.
It should be noted that in the recent MoveOntario 2020 the province stated that a north-south rapid transit corridor would be set up on James / Upper James St in the future. This could be the realization of Route 20 Airport Express.
Please note that this route does not actually exist, and this is merely an idea of a route that could possibly exist in the future.
